Bear is ravenous when he wakes up from his winter sleep and has one thing on his mind: honey! Alas, it is too soon for honey, so Bear tries hard to be patient. The world around him is waking up, too, and he soon remembers all the other things he loves, like warm grass, berries, and rain. He’s almost content, until, one day, he hears a welcome buzzing sound . . . and finally it is time for Bear to delight in the thing he relishes above all others–and it is as warm, golden, sweet, and good as he remembered.

Lowell Harrelson wanted to turn trash into methane gas so he rented a barge called Mobro 4000. His plan was to ship the garbage from New York to North Carolina, but as the barge floated down the coast, no state would let him dock because of smelly waste on board! The barge became a mockery and the butt of many jokes in the media. What started as an attempted business venture turned into quite the predicament for Mr. Harrelson. Mobro 4000 roamed the seas for forty-five days and traveled a distance of 6,000 miles. While awaiting its fate, the trash floated in New York’s harbor, garnering much attention by onlookers. Green Peace activists put up a large banner across the barge that read, “NEXT TIME…TRY RECYCLING.”

The most significant cause of early retirement from the massage profession is the cumulative strain on the body developed in the course of performing the work. The explosive growth of this occupation in recent years has been accompanied by an increase in the number of work-induced problems. Practitioners can easily strain their hands, particularly their thumbs, fingers, and wrists, as well as their shoulders and backs.

Written by noted teacher and trainer Darien Pritchard, this useful book explains those aspects of massage that can lead to these problems and shows how to apply pressure in ways that avoid them. The focus is on how to use the body safely and effectively. The author explores the benefits of involving the whole body to generate the power and movement that support the hands, saving the hands by using them skillfully, and conserving them by using other body areas such as the forearms and elbow whenever possible. Featuring 2,000 illustrations, Dynamic Bodyuse for Effective, Strain-Free Massage is essential reading for anyone involved in massage, whether a student, a professional massage practitioner or teacher, sports massage therapist, or aromatherapist.

Explores science’s new biological understanding of essential oils for improved immunity and treatment of degenerative diseases

• Explains how essential oils convey the complex natural healing powers of plants, offering scientifically proven advantages over synthetic drugs

• Offers revolutionary essential oil treatments to ameliorate the side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments as well as for hepatitis, osteoporosis, liver detoxification, and the prevention of UV damage and melanoma

• Presents simple recipes and protocols for strengthening the immune system; for treatment of common ailments, such as colds, flu, herpes, and candida; and for pain management

Exploring science’s new biological understanding of essential oils and their advantages over synthetic drugs, renowned aromatherapist Kurt Schnaubelt reveals how the effectiveness of essential oil treatments stems from our common biochemical and cellular heritage with plants. He explains how essential oils preserve a plant’s complex natural life-supporting and immune-building qualities, developed through millions of years of interaction with animals and humans. Reviewing recent research in molecular, cellular, and evolutionary biology, he shows how the multilayered activity of plant essences helps maintain the integrity of our genetic code–the reason why pathogens cannot develop resistance toward essential oils as they do with antibiotics and antivirals–making essential oils a more effective and sustainable form of treatment for a variety of health problems.

Laying to rest old arguments over essential oils’ alleged toxicity and whether they can be ingested or used undiluted, Schnaubelt presents simple recipes and protocols for treating and preventing common ailments, such as colds, flu, herpes, and candida, as well as for pain management. Offering new essential oil treatment opportunities for hepatitis, osteoporosis, liver detoxification, and the prevention of UV damage and melanoma, he shows how essential oils can also ameliorate the debilitating side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments as well as how even home use of essential oils for relaxation or skin care can help build one’s immunity and overall well-being.
